Say It Louder

Fairly boring office-type day today, at least for me, which means MWR computer time punctuated by the guy 2 cubes down from me yelling into his cellphone like he's having a conversation on a flightline.

Little irritating, but in light of the other events today, not something I need to be dwelling on: they're having the memorial service for some of the personnel in our sister program killed when their aircraft hit a mountain about a week or so ago.

So far as I know, and what's coming out in the media, this was simply pilot error, and no sort of foul play's involved in the situation.

Here where I am it's sunny and warm, but where the aircraft wreckage is apparently is still covered in the snowcap, so they're having to wait until that recedes a little further to complete the investigation and recovery of remains.

Apparently the remains are in the condition that DNA is being relied on to positively identify victims.

Somehow in a TV show that sounds…interesting. Intriguing. But to think about actual human beings reduced in their physical state to the level of DNA identification lends a certain cold reality to the process.

Sure, it happened in Afghanistan, but air crashes are, unfortunately, a part of air travel, and this was one of those moments where things came together and tragic resulted.

Thoughts and prayers go with the families of all those involved.
