Dinner at the Embassy

Trust me, it’s not nearly as exciting as the title sounds, just getting together with some people I worked with in Iraq when I was wearing a uniform and carrying guns.
I don’t get to do that now, which isn’t as much fun, but I do get paid better, and way more vacation time.
But, no guns.
Saw some little kids walking down our street today…maybe 5, 6 years old…a whole group of them all holding hands while they were walking.  It was kind of cool, and good to see that yes, indeed, life goes on in places like this.
It sucks, but it’s life.
Afghanistan is just at that point, where at least people are figuring out what it means to be alive again post-Taliban.
